WHY ADOPT A SHELTER ANIMAL?

When you adopt a pet from the Collierville Animal Shelter, you have personally given that animal a second chance at life.

BEFORE YOUR VISIT :

  • Download and fill in either the dog application here or the cat application here and e-mail it back to us: casinfo@colliervilletn.gov. Once your application is reviewed and approved, a staff member will contact you to set up an appointment.
  • Adoption hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 12:30 - 3:30 pm. The Collierville Animal Shelter is located at 603 E. South Street, Collierville, TN 38017.
  • Know that the adoption process takes time and allow ample room in your schedule to visit with the animals.  This time is well invested when you consider that your pet will live with you for up to 15 years or more.
  • Bring members of your household to your visit, because adopting a pet is a family decision. All children must be accompanied by parents while in the shelter.
  • Cash, check or charge accepted to pay for the adoption fee of $50. The adoption fee covers:
    • Vaccinations
    • Heartworm testing (adult dogs)
    • De-worming of puppies and kittens
    • Feline Leukemia/f.i.v. testing (cats)
    • I.D. with Microchipping

ADOPTION POLICY
You must be at least 21 years of age, have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in your household to adopt a pet, and have valid identification with your current address.

It is not the Animal Shelter's intent to make pet ownership seem inexpensive or unrealistically easy. Our goal is to attract responsible pet owners and to help them provide permanent, loving homes. To that extent, we ask you to give serious thought to the responsibilities of pet ownership.

Adoption of animals as surprise gifts is strongly discouraged, not everyone is ready for the challenge. We suggest that individuals select their own pets or surprise the person with a trip to the shelter to pick out a pet. Gift certificates are also available to purchase that would cover the cost of the adoption.
