Alert Collierville is an emergency alert system that will send rapid notifications of hazardous and urgent situations using a mix of telephone calls, texts, email messages, and additional special services for the visually and hearing impaired.

Residents must create an account to receive alerts via text messages or calls on their cell phones; residents can choose which alerts they receive and how they receive them when registering.

“We updated our system in 2021, and it is more user friendly with greater capabilities for alerting residents. It has a mobile app for easy activation and monitoring, bilingual alerts available in English and Spanish, and Alexa-enabled alerts for visually impaired citizens,” said Mark King, Collierville Fire & Rescue Chief of Administration.

The Town uses the service primarily for alerts about severe weather and environmental hazards, emergencies, and missing persons.

The system also has a mapping feature where first responders can localize messaging from Town-wide to a targeted area, such as a neighborhood block; this feature is especially useful for police-related calls that affect a specific area of the community.

“The bottom line is that delivering emergency alerts through multiple communication platforms is an effective way to provide an additional level of meaningful access for all,” said Major David Townsend with the Collierville Police Department. “We are encouraging all Collierville residents to sign up for Alert Collierville to be informed when it matters most.”
