Town names new Director of Community & Economic Development

The Town of Collierville is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Clark as the new Director of Community and Economic Development, effective August 5, 2024. This appointment was confirmed by the Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen at their June 24th meeting.

“We are excited to welcome Michael to Collierville,” said Town Administrator Molly Mehner. “His proven track record and forward-thinking approach to economic development will be invaluable as we continue to grow and develop our community. Michael’s expertise will help us navigate development challenges while maintaining the high quality of life our residents value.”

Clark brings over two decades of experience in urban and regional planning, community development, and economic growth strategies to Collierville. His extensive background includes roles in both municipal government and consulting, providing a broad perspective and expertise in managing development projects and fostering sustainable growth.

Clark holds a Master of Arts in Geography with a concentration in Urban and Regional Planning from Western Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science in Land-Use Planning from Northern Michigan University. He is also a graduate of the University of North Carolina's Professional Executive Leadership Academy and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU-A).

Prior to joining Collierville, Clark served as the Planning Director for the Town of Zebulon, North Carolina. In this role, he successfully managed the Planning and Economic Development Department, spearheaded the creation of an economic development division, and implemented innovative programs to enhance transparency and community engagement. His leadership has been instrumental in driving comprehensive land use plans, zoning regulations, and revitalization projects that align with community goals and values.

Clark expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Collierville team, stating, “I am honored to have been chosen for this role and look forward to contributing to Collierville’s future. This community has a strong vision for its growth and development, and I am excited to work collaboratively with the Board, staff, and residents to achieve our shared goals.”
