PURPOSE/DUTIES/AUTHORITY OF BOARD:

The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) can grant variances from the Zoning Ordinance and can also hear appeals of certain staff decisions. Appealable decisions are those the staff has made in interpreting/enforcing provisions of the Zoning Ordinance. The BZA is also charged with interpreting the Zoning Map if a question arises about the true location of a zoning distrct boundary.

SCHEDULE:

Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 5:00 PM in the James H. Lewellen Board Chambers at Town Hall.

Directions for public comments and presentations by applicants can be found by visiting our public comments page and are based upon the rules adopted by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BMA) on February 8, 2021. If you wish to speak about an item or issue that is not on the meeting agenda, you may speak during the Citizens Comments section.
